Supporting Mobility, Access, and Physical Confidence Across School and Life Settings
At Occupational Therapy Consultants, Inc., our physical therapists ensure that all students have the mobility, strength, and confidence to engage fully in school, home, and community life. We approach physical development through a collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming lens, promoting inclusion, autonomy, and functional movement.
Our NJ-licensed and school certified Physical Therapists (PTs) and state licensed Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) bring extensive school-based experiences. Through active collaboration with educators, therapists, and families, we design programs that are developmentally appropriate and meaningful in real-world contexts.
Mobility, Motor Skills, and Functional Movement
We help students develop the physical skills they need for safe, confident participation. These services include:
- Gross motor development, posture, and balance interventions to support classroom and recreational activity.
- Mobility and gait training, including safe use of walkers, wheelchairs, and orthotics.
- Coordination and motor planning strategies to improve bilateral movement, sequencing, and physical confidence.
Access, Adaptation, and Community Integration
Our team works to ensure inclusive access and lifelong mobility through:
- Adaptive physical education collaboration, modifying activities and environments for full participation
- Accessibility and equipment consultation, offering recommendations on seating, positioning, and assistive devices
- Functional movement supports for individuals with disabilities, focusing on transfers, fall prevention, and independence.
Movement with Purpose
At OTC, physical therapy is about more than motor skills, it’s about ensuring access, building independence, and supporting everyone’s ability to move through the world with dignity.
Our physical therapists work collaboratively with educators, therapists, and families by:
- Providing on-site observations, screenings and assessments.
- Collaborating with team members in IEP development and implementation.
- Developing movement-based goals tailored to real-life tasks.
- Providing consultation and hands-on strategies for promoting safe mobility.
- Training staff and implementing professional development plans.
- Offering mentorship for early-career physical therapists.
From classroom movement to community mobility, we help individuals thrive in environments that are supportive, inclusive, and empowering.
