OTC’s Physical Therapy practitioners (PTs and PTAs) bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in treating individuals across the lifespan, from infants to older adults. Our PT staff are committed to honoring neurodiversity and supporting each person’s unique physical and sensory needs. We work to empower individuals by promoting strength, mobility, and independence through movement.
Our PTs specialize in evaluating and treating children with neuromuscular and sensorimotor differences, as well as improving the overall health and well-being of older adults. Our services are designed to enhance gross motor skills, balance, and coordination, with a focus on helping individuals participate in daily life in ways that maximize their functional mobility.
In schools, our PT staff collaborate closely with educational teams and families to help children develop gross motor skills such as walking, running, and jumping, when those are relevant goals for the child. We support children with a range of physical, developmental, and neurological differences, including musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary conditions or medical conditions. Our approach emphasizes supporting movement without pathologizing natural variations, and we focus on creating goals that are functional and aligned with the individual’s needs.
Physical Therapists are experts in addressing movement and function challenges caused by neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions. Physical therapy interventions are designed to facilitate age-appropriate gross motor skills and enhance overall strength and endurance, postural control, balance, lower extremity alignment and strength, bilateral coordination and motor planning required for participation in classroom and school-based activities as well as safe and independent navigation of his school environment.
Using therapeutic exercise, strength and condition training, and personalized interventions, we aim to prevent or slow the progression of conditions that may affect movement and quality of life.
When working with children, our PTs use sensory-motor activities, neurodevelopmental treatment, and manual techniques like gentle stretching, all while ensuring that therapeutic activities are fun and motivating. Engaging tools like swings, steps, balls, and music are incorporated to make movement enjoyable and meaningful, respecting each child’s sensory profile. OTC PTs are here to enhance physical function and promote autonomy. They provide education and guidance to foster optimal physical function and an improved quality of life.
